For me this morning began with frying bacon with Collin. It was really painful, but we're still alive! After we all ate we finished getting ready for church, and practiced a lot of songs. Bro. Mark wanted us to sing for about 45 minutes, and even though not all of them can understand what we're saying, they love music. Most of the music we've heard in the stores have been songs we recognize from America. They really enjoyed our singing, and we enjoyed singing. It was an emotional service, even singing songs we've sung over and over, watching the people that understood the words, the ones that were saved, it was a moving experience. It was wonderful service. I loved hearing a man pray in German, verses from the German Bible, and Bro. Mark giving the plan of salvation in German. There was so much I couldn't understand, but we get so used to our own surroundings, our little town and our comfortable homes, it's good to get out and realize how big our God is. He understood the German prayers spoken aloud, and He understood the ones in my heart. He understood the English words we sung, and He can move the German hearts that couldn't.
After that we ate lunch with the people that came (one lady came because she got one of the flyers we handed out!). We had to eat a lot of dessert because the ladies had all pitched in and they might have been offended if we didn't try all of it. At some point in the afternoon Drew got proposed to by a six-year-old little girl named Veronica...in German! He had to refuse.
This afternoon we did one of the most fun things I've ever done in my life. We went to an outdoor obstacle course that was all in the trees. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! I thought I was breathing my last several times, but I lived!!! We were strapped in harnesses and had to clip them to cables and do all these scary things and wear helmets. The higher the level you went, the higher and harder you went. I only did 5 levels, but all the boys did the 6th one which was actually separate because it was so hard. Hannah Price was the only girl that completed that one and we were all very impressed and proud of her! None of us will be able to move tomorrow, but it was definitely worth it!
We came home, ate leftovers, and had a devotion from Drew. Drew is such a blessing, and he's going to be a wonderful preacher - he already is! (Daddy, if you're reading this, you need to get Drew to preach it at Cornerstone when we get back.)
I'll wait until tomorrow to post pictures because we just got the lights out warning. J.D. has the devotion for the guys tomorrow morning so pray for him about that!
Goodnight to everyone, miss you all!
Another great update. I don't exactly understand the treetop obstacle course. Pictures will help, I'm sure. So thrilled that your Sunday services went well. We had a good one at Cornerstone too!! We miss you all and I heard several comments about enjoying all these posts. We love hearing from everybody.
ReplyDeleteI love this update :) The last two have been my favorites!! Can't wait for ya'll to be back at CBC, but I know you guys are having a wonderful time!!
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you & Collin braving the grease fires to be a servant today. Enjoyed skyping with all of you today!!! Your enthusiasm is palatable. You are impacting a whole village on the other side of the world. You are NOT the typical teens that they have seen portrayed in America. In the words of that bi-lingual Drew...gute, gute!
ReplyDeleteIt is good to hear of all the things going on there in Germany. I am so glad that you have had this opportunity. We do a lot of letter boxing here as well. We put out many thousands of flyers for our first service and had one lady come from that, but years later we have had many come from that first letter boxing with many souls saved in the process. You will never know how much you will reap from that until you get to heaven. We are praying for you here in Australia, that the Lord will get glory out of your lives while you are there serving Him.
